Development
Major educational publishers have relied upon Advantage Education’s Test Item
Development Team for expert content development. We have researched, written,
and edited thousands of test items and content for use in computer based
instructional programs and printed material. Our
recent projects include contract development of test content, multiple-choice
items, and explanations for educational software designed to prepare students
for the ITBS, SURPASS, CAHSEE, FCAT, GHST, and STAR tests. Advantage Education
experts have also written
both holistic and distractor-level explanations for multiple-choice items on
released ACT, SAT, LSAT, and MEAP tests.
Our content development
process includes a complete analysis of each test, identification of each
standard or objective being tested, and construction of thorough guidelines
for assessing each objective. Professional, experienced content and item
writers, most of whom are licensed teachers, then develop test items based on
the objectives and guidelines for each test. Following the development of the
items, assessment specialists review the items to judge the appropriateness of
the content, and to eliminate items that indicate bias or do not have the
“look and feel” of the test.
