ACT Test Scores
The score that
is reported to colleges and universities is your Composite Score, which is the
average of your Scaled Scores (ranging from 1 to 36) for each
of the four sections. Scaled Scores for each section are derived from your Raw Score, which
is the total number of questions you answered correctly.
The national average ACT Composite Score for 2005 was 20.9.
How High Schools use ACT Scores
High Schools use ACT results to monitor the effectiveness
of the curriculum and instruction, and to aid in academic counseling.
How College use ACT Scores
Colleges
use ACT results to assist in admissions decisions and to suggest appropriate
course and program selections. Colleges and other agencies also use ACT scores
to determine eligibility for scholarships and loans. Above-average ACT scores
can often qualify students for scholarship money.
